Where to eat in Banja Luka
Banja Luka is easiest to get to know at the table, and many of the restaurants we have visited are by the Vrbas. Restaurant Alibi is on the new riverside promenade, with a terrace on two levels. Plan B in Borik combines the ease of a café with a serious restaurant right on the riverbank, and Stara Ada has been running since 1956 on an island in the middle of the Vrbas, with two halls for celebrations.
For home cooking and bigger celebrations there is Integra Traditional Restaurant: spit-roast meat, lamb and parties of up to 160 guests. If you need something quick, Pečenje Mars in Lazarevo serves roast meat in a lepinja (flatbread), with its own parking and delivery.
More modern cooking: Restaurant SO has combined international food and cocktails since February 2026, and every guest review so far has five stars. Rotkvica has a New York-style industrial interior, continental and Mediterranean cooking and a wine gallery, and is open from breakfast to dinner. Kod mame on Jevrejska street serves the Užice-style “complete lepinja” and pizzas, and stays open until five in the morning at weekends.
Just outside town, in Čelinac, Restaurant Laguna is known for its Karađorđe schnitzel and grilled squid.
We have visited every restaurant on this list, and the ratings come from guests who have eaten there. If you have been to one of them, leave a review on its page.
