What to see in Trebinje
Hercegovačka Gračanica stands on Crkvina hill above the town. It was built after the model of Gračanica in Kosovo, it holds the grave of the poet Jovan Dučić, and the view takes in all of Trebinje and the Trebišnjica valley.
Tvrdoš Monastery has 4th-century foundations and a 15th-century wine cellar. St Basil of Ostrog took his monastic vows here, and Tvrdoš Vranac and Žilavka are now drunk in sixteen countries.
The Arslanagić (Perović) Bridge is an endowment of Mehmed Pasha Sokolović from 1574: seven arches and eighty metres of stone over the Trebišnjica. It is the only bridge in the region that was taken apart, moved and rebuilt stone by stone.
All three are about ten minutes’ drive from each other, so they are easy to see in a single day.
